Simpsons Humor. You know how when someone describes to you something funny that they saw on a tv show it's rarely close to as funny as actually seeing it yourself? The one exception I've found is The Simpsons. I've never really enjoyed watching the show but whenever someone tells me a joke from the show or I read it in the paper I find it funny. Case in point...this summary of a Simpsons episode that mocked the Fox News channel by adding anti-democrat news items to the scroll running along the bottom of the Fox News screen... According to Groening, Fox took exception took a Simpsons' version of the Fox News rolling news ticker which parodied the channel's anti-Democrat stance, with headlines like "Do Democrats Cause Cancer?" ~ Tuesday, October 28, 2003
Who's Da Man? A recent date admitted to "having a really good sex dream" about me. Nice to know that although I'm not "scoring" in real life, at least I'm having a good time in other people's dreams. That should count for something, right? ~ Monday, October 27, 2003
Don't worry, Brad and Jennifer are going to straighten out this whole Israel-Palestine thing. 'The stars are among a group of actors, directors and writers who have signed up to the US$6.7 million (S$11.6 million) peace initiative called One Voice. ~ Monday, October 20, 2003
Color Me Surprised. According to this post at RealClearPolitics, Howard Dean has two gas-guzzling SUVs in his garage. Now that Howard Dean is running for president and he's declared that America's massive oil consumption is a national security issue, does that mean that he supports terrorism by driving an SUV? ~ Friday, October 17, 2003
Not Back to Normal. Sorry for the lack of posts. My first cold has overstayed its welcome making my productivity at work decrease. That hasn't allowed any time for finding or doing anything worth writing about. Clearly my relationship with the blond mom is kaput. This would have been one weekend in which she's free to go out and neither of us have made any contact with the other. Yeah, I'd say that ship has sailed. Too bad, she was really cool. I wish her all the best. ~ Monday, October 13, 2003
Holding down the shift key. This post at Hoystory about the complicated anti-pirating features of BMG CDs is really funny. How do people in the record industry keep their jobs? ~ Wednesday, October 08, 2003
Speaking at a conference on the prevention of domestic violence the wife of Maryland's governor laughed as she said the following... "You know, really, if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would." ~ Sunday, October 05, 2003
A Change of Season. I had a second date with Wendy last night. Like the first, this one was simple---dinner followed by a couple of drinks at a local bar. However, unlike the first, this date had much more of a "date" feel to it. Now I find that she's on my mind this morning and that I'm looking forward to seeing her again----which we plan to do later in the week. Update: I may have been on Wendy's mind as well. She called Sunday night (a first!) under the guise of setting specific plans for later in the week. After making our plans we had a nice conversation. This could get interesting. ~ Wednesday, October 01, 2003
Cold Season Already. I finally talked to the blond-mom. She called to say hello. Unfortunately, she has a nasty cold that she caught from one of her kids. Hmmm...I hadn't considered that part of the "kid" equation. I am somewhat of a germaphobe and the cold/flu season is right around the corner. Oh well, don't know if we'll get together this weekend as it will depend upon how she's feeling. In other news, I have a second date with Wendy lined up for Friday. Update.Wendy has requested that we change to Saturday due to a work conflict. | |
